The Goat Art Project was developed by my friend, Mary Thompson, from Minnesota. She and another friend, Jennifer Lohman-Perterson from Wisconsin, came to spend 10 days with me here in Nepal. During her visit she introduced the teachers’ aide and a few students to the owl project that she is familiar with in the USA. The owl project has students from all over the globe draw illustrations of owls to reproduce on blank greeting cards as a fund raiser.Mary brought art supplies and some samples of the cards. Now we have had two series of goat greeting cards featuring art from the students in several village schools.All proceeds from the sale of the cards goes directly back to the students and their schools. Art supplies are gifted and presented to the schools by the student artists themselves. This empowers the students as contributors of service to their schools.This same art component of WGPN also helps sponsor a young talented artist and a former greeting card contributor with his University level art classes and supplies.
